Assistant Therapy Practitioner (Reablement) - Oxford
People diagnosed with an SMI (serious mental illness) have significantly worse health outcomes and life expectancies.
The main aim of this exciting role is to focus on mental health rehabilitation, engagement, and enablement to optimize service users' ability to recover and live meaningfully and enjoy a good quality of life.
Oxford City + NE Adult mental health team have led the way locally in delivering this evidence-based intervention led by a team of occupational therapists and experienced support staff providing mental health reablement. This team will provide short, intensive, activation-focused interventions to support service users to increase, reconnect to, or initiate activities of meaning to support recovery from a period of mental health distress.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 4 Reablement Assistant Therapy Practitioner, you will work alongside Occupational Therapy colleagues to deliver groups and work one-on-one with service users helping them identify and increase their activities of meaning and support their mental health recovery.
This small team will work closely together to support people to increase their activity levels and support their mental health recovery. With support and supervision, you will be able to develop skills working individually with service users, leading groups, and completing patient-led outcome measures.

Job responsibilities
You will be part of the Mental Health reablement team based in one of Oxford's Adult Mental Health teams. You will have clinical supervision from a qualified Occupational Therapist, join in service training, and meet regularly with therapy assistants from a range of mental health services.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* A Levels and/or Health and Social Care NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Qualification related to Mental health issues.
* Training or education in Counselling/Psychology.
Experience
* Experience of supporting people with mental health problems.
* Experience of leading groups and 1:1 intervention.
* Experience of working in an OT-related setting.
Knowledge
* An understanding of the value of activity to personal wellbeing.
* Working knowledge of Recovery principles.
* Interest in/and understanding of psycho-social interventions.
