The Pilgrims’ School – a vibrant independent boys’ preparatory in a beautiful ‘city meets country’ setting – is seeking a Finance Manager to join a busy department and manage the day-to-day accounting for the School. Key Responsibilities Preparing and generating termly fee invoices, ensuring all billing information has been correctly captured. Collating all disbursement information and preparing ad-hoc invoices for sundry rentals, holiday sports courses, etc. Processing the monthly payroll using SAGE and preparing monthly salary reports and online salary payments. Recording all registration and acceptance fees on OpenApply. Preparing and submitting monthly and annual reports (PAYE/NI, P11D, P60, etc.). Processing all purchase invoices, credit notes and expense claims received. Generating weekly BACS payment runs. Preparing termly management accounts and processing bank reconciliations. Submitting VAT reporting in an accurate and timely manner. Providing monthly expenditure reports as required, e.g., for the catering and maintenance teams. Replying to queries from and liaising with parents, staff, and suppliers on financial matters. Skills and Experience Full or part accountancy qualification or experience in a similar role. Experience using the SAGE payroll system, the Engage school accounting system, and OpenApply. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Attention to detail with the ability to juggle various priorities within the same day. A proactive self-starter with good problem-solving skills who is able to take initiative. Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the school community. Computer literate (including Excel, Word, and WindowsOS). Natural warmth, a sense of positivity and good humour.
