Job overview
The post will be an integral part of the Breast, Urology & General Surgery team responsible for managing our choose & book referrals for the department as well as our 2 week wait cancer referrals.
The post holder will play a crucial part in supporting the clinical and admin teams in ensuring accurate management of the tracker and a prompt turnaround in actioning incoming referrals and updating the relevant teams with the outcomes.
The post holder will also be responsible for providing a comprehensive support service to the medical secretaries and clinical teams, including, but not limited to: dealing with enquiries, correspondence, filing, uploading dictation and providing an efficient typing service to the division in support of the work of Consultants and other Clinical Staff and the Clinical Lead to maximise patient care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the Surgery, Women’s and Children’s secretarial group providing general administrative services to the Directorate, in support of the work of consultants and other clinical staff in providing a high standard of patient care. As part of an administrative and secretarial team you will work towards Department, Directorate and Trust performance and quality targets.

* GCSE level C or above in English and Maths
* Microsoft Office IT packages
* Microsoft Outlook
Experience
* A proven track record within a related administrative or secretarial role
* Demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to workload management.
* Previous NHS experience

* High quality communication skills – verbal, face to face and written
* Professional telephone manner
* Ability to learn new systems
* Ability to work to tight and conflicting deadlines
* Ability to type accurately and efficiently
* Be able to prioritise own workload and remain calm under pressure.
