About the role
St Clare's Catholic School, Burdell is seeking an energetic and dedicated Tuckshop Assistant. This role is a Term Time, Fixed Term position, completing 6 hours per week (Wednesday only) commencing 20 January 2025 for the remainder of the 2025 school year.
The purpose of the Tuckshop Assistant is to contribute to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the College by providing a high level of Tuckshop operational support. Ensure that a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained.
Ensure that all duties are completed to an acceptable standard as determined by the Tuckshop Convenor and in accordance with the school Tuckshop policies.
Key Accountabilities
Typical duties performed may include, but are not limited to:
1. Lead voluntary staff under authority from the Tuckshop Convenor
2. Set a tone of friendliness and high standards of personal conduct in the tuckshop as per Townsville Catholic Education Office Staff Code of Conduct.
3. Order and organise all food prepared and sold as per Tuckshop Convenor instructions.
4. Follow all required legislative & policy procedures in relation to food preparation and in regards cleanliness and hygiene in the Tuckshop.
5. Responsibility for Tuckshop equipment.
6. Responsibility for Tuckshop cleanliness.
7. Other duties as required by the Tuckshop Convenor or Principal.
8. Effectively assist with the day-to-day operations of the tuckshop including daily opening and closing procedures
9. Support special event days and other catered school functions as required.
About you
Experience
10. Ability to provide customer satisfaction (students, staff, broader school community)
11. Experience in risk minimisation – related to all WHS and other compliance requirements
12. Ability to utilise sound financial outcomes, business systems and controls
Knowledge
13. Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
14. High level of initiative and openness to new technology and processes
15. WHS awareness and knowledge of “Smart Choices” Nutrition Program for schools or similar
Skills
16. Skills and experience in food preparation and knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
17. An ability to communicate with a range of staff across primary school settings
18. A demonstrated ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships
Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other
19. Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
20. Undertake Workplace Health and Safety Training
21. Current Driver’s Licence
22. Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
23. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
24. Food Handler Training or the ability to attain
25. This position will be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment to support the selection process.
Desirable Criteria
26. Relevant certificate and or school based experience.
