DERBYSHIRE RECOVERY PARTNERSHIP SUBSTANCE USE SERVICE
Criminal Justice Drug and Alcohol Practitioner - South Derbyshire
Full time 37.5hrs per week
£24,250 per annum
The Derbyshire Recovery Partnership is looking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic individual to be our new drug and alcohol worker in the Swadlincote and Erewash area. This role will be working with people involved in the criminal justice system, who may be leaving prison or are already living in the local community.
There will be plenty of drug, alcohol and criminal justice training provided, so there's no need to already have experience in this. We also provide extensive group work facilitation training. We're looking for transferable skills and someone who is keen to learn and excited about this field of work and helping people that have been/are involved with criminality.
In this role you will be trained to co-ordinate care and deliver 1:1 and group sessions focused on psychosocial and harm reduction interventions to people who use our service. This cohort of people accessing our service may be subject to licence conditions, Alcohol Treatment Requirement (ATR) and Drug Rehabilitation Requirement (DRR) court orders, and may be involved with the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) team, Courts, Liaison and Diversion, Prison healthcare, and Probation services. The focus of this role is helping engage people to address their drug/alcohol use and reduce criminality, improving their health outcomes and quality of life.
This role involves managing a small caseload where you will provide a high intensity and frequency of support to people living in the Swadlincote and Erewash community. We'd also like this role to involve some delivery of our structured group work programme.
There is also an opportunity to apply for prison vetting and once cleared, you can conduct some prison in-reach with people who will shortly be leaving prison to return to their local community in Derbyshire. We conduct prison in-reach primarily in HMP Foston Hall, HMP Nottingham and HMP Ranby, and in-reach will involve assessing the treatment needs of people leaving prison and supporting them by involving other services as you plan comprehensive community-based care. You will liaise closely and regularly with other relevant professionals and involve specialist local services within your role.
This role will be based in Swadlincote in South Derbyshire with around two days per week working in the Erewash (Ilkeston) region of Derbyshire, working 37.5 hours per week; Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, on a permanent contract. Due to the outreach and responsive nature of this role, applicants must have a driving licence and access to their own vehicle for work. Travel expenses for outreach are reimbursed and there is free staff car parking available on site at both our Swadlincote and Ilkeston offices.
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a clear passion for working with people using drugs and/or alcohol who are also involved in the criminal justice system. Applicants will have an innovative, motivating and proactive approach to their work.
