Project Oversight: Manage the mechanical construction phase of hyperscale data centres, ensuring all mechanical systems are installed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Site Coordination: Lead and supervise on-site mechanical teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring seamless execution of mechanical works.
Technical Expertise: Oversee the installation of chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units, HVAC, ventilation, water treatment, and fire suppression systems.
Health & Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to HSE regulations, risk assessments, and site safety protocols.
Quality Assurance & Testing: Supervise and validate system testing, commissioning, and handover procedures to ensure operational reliability.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as the key liaison between clients, consultants, MEP teams, general contractors, and subcontractors.
Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical challenges, delays, or inefficiencies in the mechanical construction process.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed progress reports, site documentation, and mechanical project records to ensure compliance and transparency.
Innovation & Efficiency: Support the implementation of prefabrication, modular construction, and advanced mechanical solutions to improve efficiency.
Key Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 8+ years in mechanical construction management, with experience in hyperscale data centres, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale MEP projects.
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water systems, DX cooling, VRF/VRV, BMS controls, fire suppression, and ductwork installations.
Technical Expertise: Familiarity with mechanical design standards, BIM coordination, and commissioning procedures.
Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of European construction standards, mechanical codes, and safety regulations (e.g., CIBSE, ASHRAE, F-Gas, EN378).
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, coordinate, and motivate large teams of mechanical engineers, subcontractors, and site operatives.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot mechanical failures, design conflicts, and installation challenges.
Communication: Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate technical details effectively.
Education: Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
Certifications: Relevant mechanical certifications (e.g., SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH, F-Gas, LEED AP, or equivalent) are desirable.
