The Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service (GCSWS) is a joint venture between South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council. The Commercial Waste business is a key part of the service, serving more than 2,000 customers in the Greater Cambridge area, including:
1. SMEs
2. Schools
3. Colleges
4. Universities
5. Pubs
6. Restaurants
7. Multi-site industries
8. Research organisations
9. Other commercial enterprises
It provides a quality assured service underpinned by ISO 9001 and 14001 Certification. The Business is making a significant, positive financial contribution to GCSWS and is now poised for significant further growth.
Job Role
We are looking for a suitable candidate to join the GCSWS Senior Management Team as Commercial Waste Business Manager, backed up by very supportive, ambitious and innovative leadership teams at both councils.
The CWBM will be fully profit responsible for the commercial waste collection services provided by GCSWS. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, maximizing business profitability, ensuring operational efficiency, and assuring regulatory compliance.
The CWBM will lead the Business to achieve essential profit growth objectives whilst improving current levels of efficiency. With full financial responsibility, the CWBM will be accountable for all activities of the Business including:
1. Managing the dedicated team in a ‘hands-on’ manner
2. Developing and executing an agreed business plan
3. Monitoring and reporting on delivery against objectives and market developments
4. Ensuring that all applicable legal requirements are met
