We have an excellent opportunity to join our exceptional Apprenticeships and Business Development department as an Electrical Engineering Skills Coach.
The role of the Skills Coach is to provide support and guidance and to assess the vocational knowledge and competence of their apprentices against the national standards, ensuring the apprentice understands the technical knowledge and skills needed to undertake their job role.
This is a Part Time role working 30 hours per week.
Please Note - The salary band for this role includes a market supplement which may be offered to the successful candidate in relation to experience and will be reviewed on an annual basis.
Responsibilities include:
* To undertake timely assessment of apprentices to the national standards and to record all assessment decisions to meet the awarding body/ professional body requirements in line with the assessment cycle
* Manage a caseload of apprentices to include, setting SMART targets to ensure timely progress and achievement all required components of the apprenticeship
* Work with employers and apprentices and book the required functional skills minimum 1 to be completed in first 6 months of programme
* Support the delivery of L1 FS in the workplace (SAR ALN to be supported by FS Tutor as required)
* Support and attend apprentice inductions across operational teams
* Support apprentices to plan and provide opportunities to achieve pass merit and distinction linked to standards delivery
* Monitor and complete progress of assessments on CognAssist for those requiring ALS support
* Support the recruitment process by completing initial assessment duties and the identification of potential new starts as per internal rota system
* Perform Internal Quality Assurance activity if the role requires

Education & Training
* GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
* GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
* Assessor Award or working towards
Experience
* Proven experience of accurately and timely assessing in the workplace/classroom
* Experience of working with candidates with a wide range of abilities
* Ability to engage and motivate candidates
* Experience of working within a customer focused environment
* Current knowledge and relevant occupational experience in the assessment area
