An exciting opportunity has arisen on Dott ward to recruit a band 5 registered nurse to work within our 27 bedded neurovascular surgical ward. We are looking for individuals who are passionate, enthusiastic and have a passion for acute surgical care.
We are open 365 days a year and work shift patterns (days and nights) providing a service to our amazing patients and their relatives. If you want to join an exciting, friendly team and want to achieve high standards, please complete an application.
Main duties of the job
1. Participate in team nursing and when appropriate, organise the patients care.
2. Escalate on the condition of patients, medical instructions and implement as necessary.
3. Ensure and safeguard patient’s property and valuables.
4. Participate in the training of other nursing staff, including basic and post basic learners in consultation with Sister/Charge Nurse wherever applicable.
5. Undertake aspects of coordinator's role.
6. Be aware of, and adhere to, all the Trust policies and procedures and standards of care.
7. Maintain high standards of nursing care and review these standards with the Ward Manager.
8. Assist staff to understand their role in the unit team.
9. Be aware of the economic use of ward equipment and stores.
10. Ensure adequate security, administration, proper use and recording of dangerous drugs in accordance with hospital policy.
11. Ensure up to date knowledge of new equipment being used.
12. Further own professional development by ensuring that own clinical and professional knowledge is widened and enriched by attending study days and seminars as arranged through the in-service training officers.
13. Ensure confidentiality at all times. The post holder’s attention is drawn to the Data Protection Act 1984.
14. Ensure that the Control of Infection Guidelines are adhered to at all times.
