The post holder will perform routine Respiratory and Sleep Diagnostics, complying with departmental standard operating procedures at all times during the course of their duties; undertake a range of routine Lung Function tests independently, perform Sleep Apnoea Diagnostics, assist senior staff in the Sleep Apnoea Therapy service, perform calibration and quality control procedures on all laboratory equipment, and assist senior staff in the training of junior staff, students, nurses, and medical students. Work towards the ARTP Associate Professional Examination.
Main duties of the job
Carry out all duties and tasks in a manner which ensures patient comfort and safety, whilst maintaining accuracy.
Be able to demonstrate a good level of knowledge underpinning each of the basic tests in the department.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
* Two A 'Levels at Grade D or above (one of which must be a Science) plus additional theoretical or applied training in specific discipline to diploma equivalent level.
* Relevant Healthcare Science Foundation Degree / Applied Science HND / HNC / GNVQ Advanced in Science.
* Relevant Respiratory Physiologist Experience.
* ARTP Part 1.
* ARTP Part 2.
* ARTP Certificate in Spirometry.
Essential Aptitude and abilities
* Performs a range of basic lung function tests.
* Laboratory maintenance, calibration and quality control procedures.
* Seeks out further development and responsibilities.
* Good patient communication skills, understanding, courteous, pleasant disposition.
* Motivated and enthusiastic, an excellent team player.
* Ability to put own point of view over but also able to listen to others.
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
