This is a rewarding and interesting permanent role, where you will manage our UK & Lloyd’s Energy claims across multiple jurisdictions. Within this role, we are not necessarily expecting Energy experience, and we would be open to cross training the right candidate if they came from a Liability/Casualty background who can then develop their skill sets into Energy Liability and learn about Energy property.
You will be responsible for supporting the Energy offering by providing superior claims handling service on business written from the UK ensuring technical and quality service levels are met. You will drive files to resolution to achieve the best possible outcomes for AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively. Ensure appropriate management and oversight of internal and external relationships with early identification of issues and proactive resolution.
You will be a critical advisor to Underwriters and Risk Consulting regarding trends you are seeing within claims and from external sources. You will work with our Underwriters and Wording team to ensure insights and trends identified from your claims role are incorporated to ensure the best solution for our clients.
There is a heavy focus on working with external counterparts such as brokers and clients to ensure an understanding of their industry and needs; this is in conjunction with internal stakeholders i.e. underwriting and actuaries. You will also need to collaborate with Claims Leadership, Claims Practice, Claims Legal as required.
What will your essential responsibilities include?
1. Manage a portfolio of claims, including trend identification and reporting, oversight of large losses and problem-solving key issues as well as providing individual claim oversight using a consultative approach, and directly handle highly complex/large loss files, as appropriate.
2. Manage a strategic relationship with brokers, clients, actuaries, Practice and underwriters relative to the portfolio, including presenting at new business/renewal pitches and client training seminars.
3. Supporting underwriting teams and partners in connection with claim trends, marketing and business development and retention activities.
4. Review, evaluate and manage external vendor relationships by portfolio.
5. Maintain necessary reporting and controls (e.g. FIC, quality reviews) to ensure robust governance is in place.
6. Drive culture of continuous improvement and learning.
7. Work with management, Claims Legal and handler to identify and select appropriate counsel. Proactively manage litigation strategy on largest/complex claims and ensure local adherence to litigation management principles.
8. Manage workload and support the claims team as needed.
9. Project manage key initiatives within product line and wider function and execute within agreed timescales.
10. Active participation and accountability for the Quality Review Process for area of responsibility, continually looking for ways to improve.
11. Provide superior customer service to policyholders and brokers and ensure the same high customer service standards are upheld by all colleagues. Continually identify areas where client experience can be improved.
12. There may be a requirement to undertake ad hoc projects/tasks and international travel.
You will report to the Energy Claims Manager.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
1. Significant knowledge of Liability Claims, any US experience is beneficial.
2. Working knowledge of Lloyd’s minimum standards, Lloyd’s regulations and the subscription market (desired but not essential).
3. Experience influencing and leading the Market.
4. Knowledge of legal entities and global claims handling in different jurisdictions.
5. Experience implementing new market initiatives and managing change.
6. Adaptability to learn other product lines.
7. Influencing and Negotiation: Managing internal and external relationships proactively and effectively leading the market.
8. Critical and Strategic Thinking: Ability to manage resources including team workload allocation and proactive management of vendor relationships in order to deliver on Product strategy.
9. Technical Skills: Capable of overseeing large losses and reporting of trends.
10. Analytical Skills: Possesses excellent analytical skills and sound judgment.
