Role Overview:
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (Post-16), you will play a pivotal role in supporting students across a range of subjects, helping them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to excel in their studies. You will work closely with teachers and students, providing tailored support in lessons, assisting with coursework and exam preparation and encouraging students to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support students aged 16-19 in a variety of academic subjects, helping them achieve their educational goals.
* Provide one-to-one and small-group intervention sessions to reinforce learning and improve understanding.
* Assist students with coursework, exam preparation and study skills to enhance their academic performance.
* Work collaboratively with teachers and subject leads to adapt learning materials to suit individual student needs.
* Foster a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel motivated and confident.
* Offer guidance and mentorship to students exploring career pathways, higher education, or apprenticeships.
* Monitor student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff to inform learning strategies.
* Support students with additional learning needs or those facing barriers to education.
* Promote positive attitudes towards learning, encouraging students to develop self-discipline and independence.
* Uphold safeguarding policies and ensure the well-being of all students within the school or college setting.
Requirements of Graduate Teaching Assistant (Post 16):
* A degree in a relevant subject such as Education, Psychology, English, Maths, Science, or Humanities (preferred but not essential).
* Previous experience working with young adults in an educational, mentoring, or tutoring capacity (desirable).
* A genuine passion for education and a strong commitment to supporting student achievement.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and staff.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to provide academic support across multiple subjects.
* A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and professional development.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
