We are looking for a highly organised and efficient individual to supervise and co-ordinate all theatre resources within Cirencester Day Surgery Unit. Although we are part of GHNHSFT, we are a remote, standalone unit which requires the support of a theatre resource co-ordinator. This role will be critical to the smooth running of theatre and effective list utilisation.
Main duties of the job
1. Monitoring theatre lists, communicating directly with surgeons to obtain the correct equipment and consumables needed for surgery.
2. Liaising with company representatives, obtaining quotes and raising direct requisitions. Generating purchase orders for acquisition approval and ensuring these items are received in a timely manner.
3. Arranging for CSSD to process loan instruments and sets, ensuring they are delivered ready for the day of surgery and returned for re-sterilisation before collection by the relevant company.
4. Management of all stores, covering theatre, anaesthetics and recovery requirements along with overseeing the same processes for the ward area. Weekly ordering, receipting, date checking and stock rotation. Researching and sourcing new items for all areas when required.
5. Managing our unit's current stock of sterile sets and instruments, ensuring they are in date, undamaged as well as traced and returned from CSSD, available for procedures when required.
6. Management of consignment stock, liaising with outside companies and partners to maintain these stock levels and replace items when necessary.
7. Responsible for ensuring all theatre equipment is serviced when required and within good working order.
8. Responsible for Departments Stock Take, to include yearly submission of stock levels, prices and codes.

Cirencester Treatment Centre has a small, friendly team who support each other with the diverse skills they possess. Cirencester Hospital is situated in lovely grounds with a Roman Amphitheatre and Cirencester town nearby. Parking is free on site for both patients and staff. Cirencester has excellent road links to Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon and the surrounding areas.
Job responsibilities
Main Responsibilities Include:
1. Monitoring theatre lists, reviewing on a weekly basis and communicating directly with surgeons to obtain the correct equipment and consumables needed for surgery.
2. Assisting the general manager in monitoring theatre utilisation and where possible suggesting and implementing solutions.
3. Liaising with company representatives, obtaining quotes and raising direct requisitions. Generating purchase orders for acquisition approval and ensuring these items are received in a timely manner.
4. Arranging for CSSD to process loan instruments and sets, ensuring they are delivered ready for the day of surgery and returned for re-sterilisation before collection by the relevant company.
5. Budgetary Responsibilities: Although no direct access to budgets, the role includes cost-effective ordering, dealing with invoicing queries, receipting goods and liaising with finance where applicable.
6. Management of all stores, covering theatre, anaesthetics and recovery requirements along with overseeing the same processes for the ward area. Weekly ordering, receipting, date checking and stock rotation. Researching and sourcing new items for all areas when required.
7. Managing our unit's current stock of sterile sets and instruments, ensuring they are in date, undamaged as well as traced and returned from CSSD, available for procedures when required.
8. Management of consignment stock, liaising with outside companies and partners to maintain these stock levels and replace items when necessary.

11. Carrying out and recording theatre audits.
12. The role will include acting as theatre sustainability lead for the unit. Becoming a member of the green council, helping to promote and uphold theatre sustainability to trust standards. Making sure all items are disposed of correctly and recycled where possible. Dealing with BMA to arrange collection of out-of-date stock for resale with resubmission of funds to our budget.
13. Another aspect of this role will include assisting and supporting the scrub and recovery team within a clinical setting when required and providing cover for colleagues during sickness or holidays.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Experience
* Have the ability to work well under pressure and prioritise workloads.
* Meet deadlines and manage the demands of the theatre service, dealing with urgent issues effectively.
* Good working knowledge of EPR, Trak, P2P and procurement.
* Substantial experience as a theatre HCSW including circulating in theatre and acting as clinical support in recovery.
* Ability to establish positive and effective relationships with surgeons, procurement and company representatives.
* Ability to work on own initiative and without supervision using multitasking skills.
* Excellent IT skills, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
* Appropriate experience of auditing, stock take and sustainability.
