Lead Midwife for Pre-term Birth
NHS AfC: Band 7
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior midwife to join our specialist midwifery team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust on a 12 month secondment.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate clinical midwife interested in improving safety and outcomes for mothers and neonates to support in providing high quality and safe care to families at risk of a preterm birth. The role requires leadership and influencing skills, specialist knowledge of preterm birth, optimisation and stabilisation for preterm birth, alongside supporting with the regional Maternal Medicine network.
The successful candidate will have oversight and support the development of processes. They will work in collaboration with existing leads for SBLCB, NHSR, preterm birth and public health along with colleagues from clinical effectiveness, neonatal teams, and governance teams. They will provide coordination of reporting and monitoring of preterm birth prevention and management in relation to SBLCB v3, Mat Neo SIP/NNAP and NHSR Maternity Incentive Scheme.
They will provide support to the preterm prevention clinic providing clinical support to colleagues working in the antenatal clinic, including telephone consultations, and providing support for the women in the clinics.
We are looking for a compassionate and approachable midwife whose role will be to achieve consistency of practice, high standards of care and innovation with a strong patient safety focus.

Knowledge
* A good understanding of SBLCB and preterm birth prevention and management
* Demonstrate insight in the use of data to influence patient care and services
* Ability to respond to, prioritise analyse complex problems/situations and ensure effective interventions are put in place.
* Ability to generate and present reports and documents
* Deal effectively with clinical issues within defined procedures/ guidelines
* Use of appraisal, personal development review and training needs analysis
* Demonstrate a knowledge of current issues related to NHS strategy and policy
* Use of clinical benchmarking to influence patient care

Qualifications
* Registered Midwife
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Teaching and Assessing qualification
* Completion of all local competency packages
* Research training/experience ECDL
* Attendance at conferences / study days
Experience
* Experience of caring for women at risk of or in preterm labour
* Substantive Managerial / leadership experience at band 6 in the NHS
* Evidence of participating in organisational change that has led to changes in quality
* Proven track record in leadership and management
* Evidence of leading projects
