Material Planner - Peterlee
Initial 12 month contract - likely to extend for the right person!
36.5 hours a week with an early finish on a Friday!
08:00-16:30 Mon - Thurs, 08:00-12:30 on a Friday (some flexibility around start/finish)
Up to £23.20 PAYE hourly rate plus holiday and pension contribution OR Umbrella hourly rates up to £31.17 - depending on experience

Our client is a worldwide manufacturer of mining and construction products, the Material Planning team bring in US$800 million of material globally! They are looking for a Material Planner to join the team on an initial 12 month contract basis, which is likely to keep rolling for the right person as long as the business need is there! This is a fantastic and diverse opportunity; where you will work with international suppliers, and internal schedulers & production teams to ensure material availability. No two days are the same & you’ll be supported by a very knowledgeable team.
What will the Material Planner do?
Use the MRP and supplier collaboration technologies to work with suppliers and operations to plan delivery of material for production and regulate inventory levels
Ensure the timely delivery of materials to the facility, collaborating with suppliers to coordinate delivery and shipping schedules to meet facility production plans
Actively collaborate with suppliers to resolve supplier delivery issues and improve point of use availability, identifying and applying root cause corrective actions where necessary
Support supply chain performance efforts by monitoring/tracking supplier performance metrics
Deliver improvements in point of use material availability
What skills and experience does the Material Planner need?
Strong material planning background
Proven ability to schedule and expedite parts
Computer literate in particular Excel. Tableau or Power BI experience would be an advantage
Self-motivated and able to operate within a team environment
Strong communication skills – with suppliers and colleagues
Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail, well organised and able to work to production deadlines
Desirable: Understanding and experience of Lean Manufacturing
