Role Responsibility
You will be required to cover the chefs across the Manchester based services – two independent hospitals in Swinton and Didsbury, as well as a nursing home in Birchwood and a detox unit in Ancoats on an ad hoc basis.
As the Chef you will be responsible for:
* The preparation of beverages and preparing/serving of food to our patients.
* Ensuring that the kitchen service areas are clean and tidy in line with the Environmental Health and Local Authority Standards.
* Ensuring Health and Safety regulations are followed.
* Cleanliness and replenishment of stock.
* Working in a person-centred approach.
* Ordering stock accurately and efficiently.
The Ideal Candidate
* Excellent chef skills with a good technical competence in the preparation and serving of food.
* Demonstrated customer service skills as well as listening to Service Users' requests and wherever possible implementation.
* Sound written and verbal communication skills with Staff, Service Users, and Suppliers.
* Good planning and organizational skills and displaying a proven ability to work independently and in a team.
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business.
* Responsible in keeping up to date with the latest Food Legislation and following ‘H.A.C.C.P’, ‘S.O.P’, and ‘C.O.S.H.H’ guidelines including supporting documentation.
* Understanding of Allergies legislation and a good knowledge of food diversity including Halal, Kosher, and Vegan diets amongst others, taking into consideration nutritional needs along with Service Users’ preferences.
* Ability to work to budget.
* Good understanding of working within the food or catering industry.
* Previous catering/food preparation experience in a similar role.
* Ability to manage and organize a kitchen.
* NVQ Level 1 and 2 or equivalent and Food Hygiene Level 2 or City and Guilds/706/1 & 2.
* Understanding of supporting people with mental health needs.
