Rental Fleet Engineer – Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Rental Engineer
SUMMARY
Working alongside the EU Rental Manager, responsible for the overall condition, operation, and testing of Crestchic’s Loadbank rental fleet based in Ireland and site installations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Rental Engineer reports to the EU Rental Manager and is responsible for achieving immediate and short-term objectives laid down by the EU Rental Manager, such as fleet availability, safe working, working to customer site requirements, and timely installation on sites. Typical activities include:
MAINTENANCE
1. The routine maintenance of all equipment in the depot to ensure optimum utilization in keeping with budgeted maintenance expenditure.
2. The identification of equipment that may require more routine maintenance to the manufacturing equipment.
3. Adherence to the Company’s workshop standards and procedures.
4. Operation of the Company’s maintenance recording systems.
5. Testing of the Rental Fleet (Loadbanks, Transformers, Laptops, Handheld Controllers, Control Cables, etc.) in line with the procedures laid down in the above recording systems.
SITE WORKING
1. The routine maintenance of all equipment on site(s) to ensure optimum utilization in keeping with budgeted maintenance expenditure.
2. Installation of Crestchic rental equipment on customer sites.
3. Safe electrical installation working practices.
4. Electrical safety testing before energizing the system.
5. Commissioning larger packages.
6. Final connections to clients’ panel/breaker.
7. Responsible for the quality control of their work. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
8. Complete daily reports (Timesheets where necessary).
9. Working & liaising with the customer to ensure a smooth load testing program.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform back-up for warehouse, year-end stock-take, etc.
2. Provide technical assistance remotely to the customer to rectify any faults; if not rectified over the phone, a site visit will be required.
3. Provide on-the-job training to new employees.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic and MS Office knowledge are required.
2. NVQ Level 5 qualified (Level 3 UK) or City and Guilds equivalent.
3. ECS card minimum / ECS Gold card desirable (QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft).
4. Full driving license.
5. Full Passport.
6. Manual dexterity is required for operating machinery.
7. Generally, as per job specification.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are typical for a plant rental environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials. Machinery operation requires using safety equipment, including but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hard hats. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Site work is across Ireland and may involve overnight stays. In addition to Ireland, international working across the UK & Europe, where the engineer may be required to work.
