A highly specialist therapy assistant’s typical day will include independently assessing and implementing treatment programmes for a specific group of patients, with indirect supervision. They will work also with therapists to see ward patients and patients in their own homes and may carry out a visit to the patient’s home to check it is safe prior to them going back home.

The assistant will carry out administrative and departmental duties e.g., collating data, monitoring and maintaining equipment stocks, taking telephone messages, sending letters to patients and referrals to other teams.
