An exciting opportunity has arisen within the City Housing Insight and Intelligence Team for a permanent Business Information Officer.
The Insight and Intelligence Team is responsible for providing the City Housing Directorate with accurate and up-to-date performance information to enable data-driven decision making and strategic thinking. This is done through close working with the subject matter experts in the business to gain a clear understanding of the databases (e.g. Northgate/NEC Housing, Apex) used and the reporting requirements. Once we have supported the business to clean and validate the data, we build reports (usually in Power BI) that will automatically refresh wherever possible, giving them accurate and up-to-date insight into their area, ensuring consistent reporting across the whole directorate.
We are looking for a competent data analyst with experience in databases, data extraction and transformation, and report development. The successful candidate will need to be confident working with officers at all levels and across the whole of the City Housing directorate to gather data, understand reporting requirements, carry out data assurance, and roll out reports with training and support.
City Housing is developing reports in Microsoft Power BI, and we are keen to see candidates with experience developing reports with this software; however, this may not be essential depending on other developer/analyst experience. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential.
We are looking for focused candidates with good problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks as needed. Housing knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential.
Successful candidates will have a training needs assessment and be supported with continuous development to improve and maintain the required skills for the role. A willingness to develop your skills is essential.
You will be based at home or in the office if you choose, with occasional in-person meetings at council buildings.
You must upload a Supporting Statement via the attachments part of your application. This is required for shortlisting; you need to describe how your experience and skills fit the essential criteria for the role as specified in the Person Specification. If you do not attach your Supporting Statement, your application will not be considered.
Birmingham City Council is an accredited Disability Confident Leader employer, and we are committed to employing, retaining, and developing all of our people.
We want to ensure your recruitment journey with us is a positive and equitable one, so please let us know if there are any reasonable adjustments, additional support, accessibility needs, or if there is any way in which we can support you through your application.
Closing date: 30th October at 23.59.
Interviews for this post will take place virtually via video conferencing. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further information.
