The role
Working within Middlesbrough Council, our team helps those experiencing problems with substance use, domestic abuse and homelessness.
We are looking for a caseworker to join our Family and Young Persons Team.
This role will involve:
Coordinating a caseload of families where substance use is present.
Delivering a range of interventions including brief advice, harm reduction and other psychosocial interventions.
Delivering hidden harm interventions/linking in with the Young Persons workers to facilitate delivery. These may be delivered on a 1-1 basis, in a group setting, with the whole family or remotely.
Working closely with key stakeholders such as social care and schools to ensure support packages are holistic and effective .
To be successful in this role you will need to be dynamic and creative in your approach. You will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of a diverse range of people, working around work/education schedules and other barriers that may prevent our clients from accessing mainstream services.
Any previous experience working with families would be an asset to this role but is not essential. Similarly, an understanding of substance use is desirable but not essential. If you have transferable skills and are willing to learn, we encourage you to apply.
In return we offer a supportive working environment, ongoing training, great employee discounts and a competitive pension scheme.
Please note, this is fixed term until 31.03.2026.
A full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle is required, and you will need business insurance prior to commencing in post if you do not have this already.
The above post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
