Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
1. Manage and implement Global and Regional H&S programs, projects and tasks in the sub region.
2. Report, manage, investigate SIF & HIPO incidents.
3. Set Sub Regional Top Page with head of the Region and Guide Countries' Top Pages.
4. Manage and develop Country H&S network, including local business-specific H&Ss ("Safety Champions").
5. Participate in HSE Capex Reviews and notify business of capital needs.
6. Manage Due Diligence process for mergers and acquisitions.
7. Ensure the regional coordination of Country BC programs including KPI’S.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES
1. Identify, plan, recommend and complete H&S programs following the Global H&S strategy and applicable business strategies.
2. Align work with Global H&S, Regional and Country H&S and Head of the Sub Region.
3. Create and develop a regional H&S organization to implement the Global and Regional H&S strategy throughout the sub region.
4. Set Sub Regional H&S targets and measures.
5. Develop competency of H&S personnel through best practice sharing and implementation of applicable best practices from internal and external sources.
6. Implement and assess the operational status of global and regional policies and standards to assure compliance.
7. Ensure audits are conducted to assess implementation of H&S Programs and regulatory compliance regarding Health, Safety and Environmental areas.
8. Provide H&S support to sites and functions (e.g. Purchasing, HR) during projects during site expansions, new construction, new equipment purchases, new processes etc.
9. Ensure reporting of H&S relevant items, KPI’s, including incidents, near misses, hazards and current issues within the sub region.
10. Participate in SGS wide H&S activities including Safe Start, Safety Month, Quarterly Campaigns, Best Practice Sharing, BBS and strategic planning.
11. Additional tasks can be assigned to the job holder to support the overall H&S strategy.
12. Assist and ensure compliance to local legislations and requirements.
13. Management reviews.
14. Keep up to date with global SGS systems, accreditation/certification bodies and codes of best practice’s requirements.
15. Ensure legal compliance at sites.
16. Communicate to the organization the regulatory and group H&S expectations.
17. Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the HSMS, programs and processes.
18. Ensure ‘fit-for-purpose’ H&S plans and programs are developed and implemented at sub regional and location levels within their region.
19. Liaise with Managing Directors to ensure that the H&S programs and initiatives meet the needs of their operations and clients.
20. Develop action plans which set priorities so that H&S programs and targets can be effectively implemented and achieved.
21. Prioritize issues and projects to achieve sustainable compliance with all applicable mandatory regulations and group requirements.
22. Ensure management involvement and awareness in H&S issues (through, fields visits, communication, and coaching).
23. Provide onsite technical support to SGS employees and managers.
24. Manage & Support Due Diligence/Integration processes for mergers and acquisitions.
25. Ensure Business continuity deployment in all sites and countries.
26. Implement a sub regional management crisis team to minimize loss of reputation, trust and revenue.
Qualifications
1. Master’s Degree in preferred.
2. Professional HSE Certification preferred.
3. Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Health, Safety and/or Environmental management.
4. Ability to understand and explain technical (HSE specific) topics towards different hierarchy levels.
5. Ability to develop strategic (long term) HSE rollout plan for different countries following a global/regional strategy.
6. Ability to manage a remote team.
7. Ability to assess the regional HSE performance by developing and/or using existing tools; prioritizing risks and influencing factors.
8. Ability to evaluate the accuracy of root cause analysis and the effectiveness of proposed solutions.
9. Profound knowledge of English and ability to speak and write effectively.
10. Fluent in French and English.
