An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Capital Projects Team as part of York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management LLP, with the newly created role of Capital Project Support Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of projects across the Trust’s portfolio of sites.
Working under the direction of the Head of Capital Projects, you will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of projects by supporting the Project Management Office with a range of duties, including minute taking, project board support, and stakeholder engagement. This role allows individuals to develop project management skills and experience in project delivery. Effective communication is important as you will engage regularly with stakeholders.
Main Duties of the Job
The Capital Project Support Officer will act as a key role within the Project Management Office. The post holder will undertake the following main duties:
* Stakeholder engagement by being the key point of contact for project stakeholders, directing queries accordingly.
* Administration of projects, including minute taking, action logs, and scheduling of meetings.
* Preparation of project relevant documents, such as room data sheets, equipment schedules, and technical drawings.
* Assist in the delivery of complex project plans and activities, including raising purchase orders and receipting invoices.
* Assist the Capital Project’s Team in ensuring all project communications are clear, concise, and timely.
* Diary management and forward planning of projects, considering financial considerations and clinical activities.
The post holder will be based in a busy office environment with several other colleagues. There may be times when the role requires visiting departments and wards within the hospital, and cross-site working may be necessary depending on project locations.

Aptitude and Personal Qualities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to provide positive, constructive, and practical feedback and advice to peers and managers.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience working in a busy office environment.
* Extensive experience in a project support role.
* Knowledge of current and relevant UK legislation related to refurbishment and new build construction works.
* A working knowledge of NHS and Government design and health planning guidance requirements.
Skills and Attributes
* Extensive experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, with advanced keyboard skills.
* Experience in problem solving and change management.
Education
* GCSE Maths and English at C or above - or equivalent.
