Invar Group has experienced exciting growth over recent years and has the Vision ‘to become the greatest Tier 2 provider of warehouse automation technology in the world’ by ‘designing and delivering seamlessly integrated, customised solutions, inclusive of industry leading technologies.’ Purpose Of The Role As the Project Director at Invar Group, you will be a critical member of our senior leadership team who are responsible for developing and implementing our Group vision and strategy. You will be ultimately responsible for our project management department, ensuring the successful delivery of a wide variety of projects, including standalone software and controls projects as well as integrated, complex, large-scale automation projects. You will lead a team of project managers and coordinators, overseeing all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery. This role requires strategic vision, exceptional leadership, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy: Collaborate with and contribute to the senior leadership team to define and implement the vision and strategy for Invar Group. Provide excellent strategic direction and leadership to all Invar Group employees. Always set the highest standards and lead by example. Establish and enforce project management standards, methodologies, and best practices, ensuring effective planning, execution, and delivery of all projects. Health And Safety And Project Compliance Ensure all projects adhere to health and safety regulations and industry standards. Liaise with H&S teams to implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures. Ensure your team are trained to the highest standards of health and safety and foster a safety-first culture. With the assistance of the H&S team, address any non-compliance issues promptly and implement corrective actions. Stakeholder Engagement Act as the primary liaison between Invar Group and senior customer representatives, ensuring clear and effective communication. Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and trust. Understand customer needs and expectations, and ensure that project deliverables align with their business goals. Facilitate regular meetings and updates with stakeholders to provide project status reports and gather feedback. Resolve conflicts and issues that arise during project execution, ensuring stakeholder satisfaction. Risk Management And Mitigation Identify potential project risks, including contractual risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them. Conduct thorough risk assessments and create risk management plans for all projects. Assist team members in the review of risks throughout the project lifecycle, updating mitigation strategies as necessary. Ensure the team maintains a comprehensive risk register and ensure transparent reporting to senior management. Budget Management And Profit Maximisation Oversee project budgets, ensuring projects are delivered within financial constraints. Track and report on budget performance, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions. Seek opportunities to upsell additional services and solutions to customers, enhancing project profitability. Collaborate with the sales and finance teams to optimise revenue generation from projects. Ensure accurate financial forecasting and budget planning for all projects. Continuous Improvement Implement a culture of continuous improvement by analysing project processes and outcomes. Conduct detailed lessons learned sessions at the conclusion of each project to identify areas for improvement. Develop and implement process improvements based on lessons learned, ensuring they are integrated into future projects. Encourage innovation and the adoption of best practices within the project management team. Monitor the effectiveness of improvements and adjust strategies as necessary to optimise performance. Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is desirable. Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a senior management role. Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex projects, preferably in the automation or technology sector Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2). Proficiency with project management tools and software. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. Minimum of 8 years' experience in a senior leadership role Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
