Job Description:
Job Title: Complex Needs Support Assistant
Location: Harrogate
Leader Education are seeking Complex Needs Support Assistants to work in specialist SEN schools based in Harrogate. These schools support students aged from 5 - 19 with a range of Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Mild / Severe Autism, Downs Syndrome, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children and young people on a 1:1 or small group basis within a classroom setting.
The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm; hours may slightly change depending on the school.
The successful candidate will have:
* School experience is essential, ideally supporting pupils with SEN or SEMH needs. This is because the school's pupils require a lot of close support which if you were new to the role would be very difficult and not what the school is looking for.
* Makaton and/or BSL would be advantageous.
* Team Teach level 2, or willing to take part in our Team Teach course when we hold them.
* Be able to reliably commute to work via public transport or personal vehicle.
* A patient, nurturing approach to supporting students with a wide range of abilities and needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other support staff.
* The ability to adapt and respond to the dynamic and individual needs of students.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Leader Education can offer:
* Competitive pay rates
* Refer a friend or colleague bonus scheme: £100 per referral (terms apply)
* Free CPD, including SEN-specific training such as Team Teach, Safeguarding courses, Teaching Assistant Level 2 course.
* A dedicated consultant to offer ongoing support
* Potential for a permanent contract after a qualifying period.
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a comprehensive CV outlining their relevant experience and qualifications. Please email your CV or call us on 0333 577 5034.
Leader Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants will undergo a thorough vetting process, including enhanced DBS and reference checks.
