This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a specialist multi-disciplinary team, providing holistic assessment and appropriate intervention to children and young people with gender incongruence and their families.
This post offers the opportunity to work across a variety of settings to provide a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service on an out-patient and outreach basis including community and school liaison, usually virtually but with some travel.
Main duties of the job
Provide a specialised Occupational Therapy service including assessment, treatment and management of children and young people with Gender Incongruence and co-occurring conditions.
To be a core member of the CYP Gender Service, assisting in the development, planning and progression of service provision, working across and within traditional professional and organisational boundaries.
To become a source of expertise and demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in the highly skilled management of children with Gender Incongruence and co-occurring conditions.
To provide specialist advice and clinical education to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Person specification
Qualifications and Training
* Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
* Registration with HCPC
* Evidence of relevant post-graduate continuing professional development
* Further training in a related area e.g. sensory integration therapy, ACT
* Registration with RCOT
Knowledge and Experience
* Significant Post graduate experience across a wide range of specialities
* Experience of working within children and young people either in the community or in a hospital setting at senior level (Band 7 or above)
* Evidence of working within a multidisciplinary team
* Previous experience of research, audit and/or service development
* Evidence of managing a complex caseload
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
* Demonstrable IT skills
* Ability to work independently as an autonomous practitioner
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
