Our mission is to develop autonomous/semi-autonomous, highly capable, and best in class UAV solutions.
We design and manufacture aircraft, ground control systems, camera/additional payloads and software. Our client base has grown 500% in the last 12 months and includes police forces, the military, fire services and search & rescue teams.
If you’re looking for a role in which you will be able to contribute innovative ideas, learn from a dynamic and experienced team, and be challenged on a daily basis, then this is the job for you!
We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can think creatively, independently identify areas for improvement, tackle potential barriers to progress and propose solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible, thorough and accountable with a sharp eye for detail.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will take a leadership role in the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems for ground and airside systems, including airframes, payloads, propulsion systems, and power storage. This position demands a deep understanding of aeronautical mechanical design, advanced materials, and structural integrity, as well as the ability to mentor and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The Senior Engineer will oversee complex projects and ensure that all designs meet high-performance standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
Duties
* Project Leadership & Documentation: Lead complex product design projects from concept to production, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Maintain detailed design documentation, including BOM, datapacks and test reports. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and deadlines.
* Materials Selection & Production Support: Select and specify appropriate materials, including composites, aluminum alloys, and advanced polymers, for UAV applications. Collaborate with manufacturing teams and collaborators to ensure designs are production-ready, cost-efficient, and scalable.
* Hands-on Design and Development: Design mechanical systems for ground and airside system components. Ensure designs meet aerodynamic, structural, and performance specifications while optimizing for weight, durability, and manufacturability.
* Design Innovation & Problem Solving: Innovate and implement design improvements based on performance testing, field data, and emerging technologies. Lead efforts to address challenging design problems related to flight performance, stability, structural integrity, and reliability.
* Prototyping & Testing: Build prototypes and conduct testing to verify design concepts, validate performance, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
* Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., CAA, EASA), and internal quality control procedures. Lead risk assessments, FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), and safety audits to ensure reliability and compliance with safety regulations.
Skills and experience (with demonstrable examples)
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
* Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in the aerospace industry. Experience with design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) of complex commercial systems.
* Expertise in SolidWorks CAD software.
* Deep understanding of lightweight materials, composites, metals, and advanced polymers for aerospace applications.
* Strong background in mechanical analysis, including stress, strain, vibration, fatigue, and thermal analysis.
* Experience with rapid prototyping, 3D printing, CNC, and other advanced manufacturing technologies.
