Cpl UK Healthcare (formally RIG Locums) are currently looking for a Clinical Haematology Staff Grade doctor in Plymouth for a 12 months permanent role.
This post holder is required to provide registrar equivalent cover in Clinical Haematology across the ward, day unit and outpatient setting. The post holder will be expected to work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team providing direct clinical care.
Main Duties of the Job:
The exact level of responsibility will depend on the previous experience of the doctor. Typical duties may include:
1. Attendance at consultant ward rounds and MDT meetings.
2. Ward work including ward rounds, managing a team of more junior doctors, direct admission of patients, referral when necessary to other departments, organisation of TTAs and discharge summaries and review of haematology outliers on other wards.
3. Day unit work including assessment of chemotherapy patients pre-treatment, management of chronic transfusion patients, assisting nursing staff in managing triage calls, and assessment of acutely unwell haematology patients.
4. Procedure lists including Bone Marrow Biopsies and Intrathecal Chemotherapy administration.
5. Outpatient clinic work including the full range of haematology sub-specialties.
6. Working on call as part of the ‘first on call’ haematology middle-grade tier.
7. The post-holder will be assigned a clinical/educational supervisor and the experience gained can be geared towards supporting individual development needs and aspirations.

Essential Requirements:
* Sound knowledge of basic clinical sciences and the ability to apply knowledge to clinical practice.
* Able to prioritise clinical need and manage time effectively.
* Aware of own limitations and know when to consult senior colleagues.
* Understand the importance of working effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
* At least 24 months experience in internal medicine or an ACCS programme or equivalent (not including Foundation modules).
* Minimum 18 months experience working in NHS.
* Experience of working in Haematology registrar level including safe prescription of chemotherapy.
* Competence in procedures such as bone marrow biopsy and intrathecal chemotherapy.
