An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Midwifery Advanced Clinical Practitioner / Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join the maternity team at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In this advanced role, the post holder will contribute to enhanced quality of care through the provision of expert clinical care for women. As part of a well-established and supportive multi-disciplinary team, the ACP / trainee ACP will work at a senior level, demonstrating autonomy in patient assessment, care planning and management.
Successful candidates will be registered midwives with recent and extensive clinical experience, and have undertaken (or be willing to undertake) an MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Masters degree programme.

Main duties of the job
The ACP / trainee ACP role within maternity services will work across professional and organisational boundaries. The role involves the autonomous assessment, management and planning of care within a Consultant-led team, to improve both safety and patient experience across the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal continuum.
The successful candidate will be a driven and ambitious midwife, with excellent clinical and leadership skills as well as evidence of continued professional development. This opportunity will suit those with a commitment to improving both patient experience and safety within a fast-paced, challenging but exciting clinical environment.

Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Band 7)
* In this advanced role the post holder will provide expert clinical management and care to patients in the specialty and working towards a role traditionally undertaken by doctors working at registrar level.
* Following training the role of the trainee ACP will enable the post holder to consolidate the knowledge and clinical skills developed during training including a non-medical prescribing course.
Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Band 8a)
* In this advanced role the post holder will provide expert clinical management and care to patients in a role traditionally undertaken by doctors working at registrar level.
* The post holder will function on the upper tier of the Junior Medical/ Registrar on-call rota.

Essential
* Possession of or working towards master's level study
* Be registered as a healthcare professional with and recent and extensive experience of working within specialty
* Professional qualification plus healthcare related Honours Degree
* Evidence of healthcare leadership experience
* Evidence of being self-motivated, pro-active and personally resilient
* Evidence of capability and commitment to teach and train other staff
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Ability to prioritise a complex workload and work in a rapidly changing environment
* Be able to demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development in specialty
Desirable
* Hold a recognised teaching qualification
* Clinical Skills and History Taking/ Non-Medical Prescribing qualifications
* Previous extensive clinical experience, in specialty
* Demonstrable evidence of working at an enhanced or advanced level of practice
* Evidence of teaching experience outside of a single professional group
* Significant contribution to healthcare quality improvement project(s)
* Evidence of involvement with and/or credentials in healthcare research or audit
