Detective Sergeant - Investigations (SEROCU)
The SEROCU investigations team conduct proactive covert activity in pursuit of the disruption of Organised Crime Groups operating within the South East - primarily the investigation of serious and complex organised and cross-border crime.
As part of the SEROCU investigative team, you will be tasked with supervising and driving the investigative response to serious and organised crime investigations across the South East (and beyond where required). Additionally, the role will ensure all the duties and requirements of CPIA are met; implementing investigation strategies alongside the SIO, managing systems, resources and people effectively and will deputise for the SIO when required.
We are looking for a substantive PIP 2 accredited DS or a DC who is successfully through the promotion board process and is awaiting a posting, who has the investigative ability, professional knowledge and leadership skills to develop high performing and professional teams, leading complex and challenging investigations, balancing competing demands and risks.
Whilst a background in covert investigations and practical experience undertaking covert and overt investigations is desirable, it is certainly not essential as all relevant training will be conducted once in post.
Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level SC together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
