A progressive Mixed Academy in Richmond upon Thames is seeking a passionate and engaging Sociology Teacher to join our Humanities department on a part-time basis. About the Role: Deliver stimulating Sociology lessons to Key Stage 4 students, focusing on core sociological concepts and research methods. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that incorporate contemporary social issues and encourage critical analysis. Facilitate class discussions and debates, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for diverse perspectives. Assess student progress through essays, presentations, and group projects, providing detailed and constructive feedback. Contribute to the development of the Sociology curriculum and participate in departmental meetings and planning sessions. Organize and lead extracurricular activities, such as sociology clubs and field trips, to enhance student learning. Ideal Candidate: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in Sociology or a related social science. Proven experience teaching Sociology to Key Stage 4 students, with a track record of achieving positive student outcomes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to present complex sociological concepts in an accessible manner.
