Job summary We are looking to recruit Senior Clinical Fellows / Trust Grade Doctors, to our friendly and busy Anaesthetics Department at Northampton General Hospital.This will be a 12 month fixed term post working within Anaesthetics alongside 'fellow project' related activities and development, with the possibility for extension. There will be opportunity to develop anaesthetic skills with time in theatre and also the possible funding for a PG certificate in a related field. The fellowships we currently have running include: 1.Medical Education 2.Leadership and management 3.Patient Safety 4.Research 5.FUSIC 6.Sustainability/environmental 7.Medical hypnosis 8.Social Media in Medicine/Free Open Access Medical Education (FOAMed) Main duties of the job Clinical The successful applicant is expected to participate in the Anaesthetics rotas for both Senior & Obstetrics Trainee on-call rotas (full shift), as well as the day-to-day clinical and managerial running of the service. The rota is staffed by doctors of varying seniority from a range of specialties. It is expected that individual staff perform at a level that is consistent with their grade/ experience. You will be expected to be actively involved in handover of patients, ward rounds, clinical procedures, clerking, transfers, following up on investigations, documentation to maintain a high standard of clinical care for patients. The role will involve spending time in theatres to further develop your anaesthetic skills. Educational opportunities The department offer extensive learning resources in addition to an active Medical Education Centre and supportive library service. There are regular educational meetings each week including journal club, M&M, ITU rounds, point of care simulation and regular junior and obstetrics teaching. There are opportunities to further develop teaching skills with the senior medical students and Foundation Year 1 doctors working in critical care.The rota is EWTD compliant and includes evening, night and weekend shifts within the work pattern.
