An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 2 Ward Clerk to join the discharge lounge team within the Clinical site team, Trust Services.
The discharge lounge offers a safe comfortable environment for patients whilst waiting to be discharged. Patients are discharged through the Lounge to maintain and facilitate the flow of the hospital, freeing up much needed beds for emergency and elective patients on a day to day basis. The discharge lounge currently sees on average 400+ patients per month.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong team work ethic but have the confidence to work independently. Good communication skills are essential as you will be required to liaise with wards and work closely with the clinical site team and pharmacy. The ward clerk must have the ability to work under pressure as the lounge can quickly become a fast paced environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a small but strong team, and will give you an opportunity to develop your organisational and management skills. This role will also require you to participate in developing and implementing change in the discharge lounge.
Hours of working 09:00 - 17:00.
Responsibilities will include acting as the patient’s first point of contact on the ward, greeting and signposting patients and relatives, processing patients using Medway, liaising with colleagues, sending out patient information, sorting and distributing post. The maintenance of paper and electronic records is also a key element of this role. This right candidate will be responsible for setting high standards of patient care by enacting the Trust’s core values at all times.
