Principal Mechanical Designer/Manager £55,000 - £70,000 Pension Health Insurance 25 Days Holiday Oxfordshire Ref: 24369 We have a great opportunity for a keen and enthusiastic Principal Mechanical Designer/Manager to lead an experienced Design team, ensuring the delivery of innovative and high-quality automation solutions. The role requires the ability to realise complex bespoke automation solutions from high level concepts, overseeing the design process including cross functional management of both mechanical and electrical design engineers. Senior Mechanical Designer - The Role: Lead, mentor and manage a team of mechanical design engineers and electrical design engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence Oversee the entire design process, developing sales concepts into detailed solutions Develop and implement processes and best practices to improve efficiency Work closely with the Sales and Marketing Director to align design initiatives with strategic goals Responsible for the specification of automation equipment Conduct regular design reviews to maximise the quality and consistency of designs Senior Mechanical Designer - The Person: Current experience of the mechanical design of special purpose machinery with team leadership/managerial ability Educated to degree level preferably in an Engineering discipline or related fields In depth understanding of bespoke machine building and automation Strong leadership and team management skills A logical approach to problem solving with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong ability with SolidWorks or Inventor You will spend c80% your time carrying out detailed mechanical design alongside supporting/guiding a small design team. The other 20% will be direct line management of a team of 4.
