Responsibilities: The role will include, but not be limited to, the following activities: - Understanding of nuclear safety, machinery safety, physical security and cyber security; and how early decision making will impact future designs. - Assessing existing control systems and optioneering high level architecture. - Assessing existing mechanical handling design and subsequent optioneering. - Collaborating with peers, seniors and stakeholders of both technical and non-technical roles. - Identifying physical and soft interfaces. - Defining high level requirements and identifying relevant national and local standards and guides. - Reviewing existing EC&I designs and records. - Production of optioneering, strategy and design basis documentation. The Project: The Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) Future State Programme is one of the most complex challenges facing the NDA in dealing with the UK's nuclear legacy is managing the stockpile of separated civil plutonium. The SNM Future State Programme will deliver capabilities to ensure the right material, is in the right package, in the right store to maintain the safe and secure storage of plutonium. To deliver the programme mission there are several tranches that must be delivered. The SNM Future Storage tranche will focus on providing additional modern standard, resilient storage capacity to store 100 Year Packages until the final disposition solution is implemented.
