Due to recent surgical bed reconfiguration in 2024, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time band 6 deputy clinical leader to work alongside the Manfield day surgery team on the new Compton surgical ward as a permanent position.
The post holder will support the band 7 clinical leader in the general management of the clinical environment, ensuring that a quality service is provided. They will be responsible for the delivery of a training programme to a team of nurses, ensuring that staff within the team are supported and developed within their role. They will oversee a team of Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, and Healthcare Assistants, monitoring their professional development through carrying out KSF IPRs.

Compton Surgical ward is an 18-bedded short stay ward that cares for patients under the surgical division umbrella, which includes mixed General surgical patients and orthopaedics patients. We are a hardworking team who strive for excellence in the patient care we deliver. We run a fast-paced ward with multiple admissions and discharges each day and are looking for an enthusiastic band 6 to join our team.
The post holder will support the ward manager in the general management of the clinical environment, ensuring that a quality service is provided.
They will be responsible for the delivery of the training programme to a team of nurses, ensuring that staff within the team are supported and developed within their role.
Supporting the Ward Manager to attain positive Ward Accreditation; conducting one-to-one meetings with the ward team to gain greater understanding and education of the fifteen standards of care, incorporating the 6Cs Compassion in Practice values.
They will oversee the team of nurses and healthcare assistants, monitoring their professional development through carrying out appraisals.

9. Work in partnership with the senior nursing team and other Sisters to ensure the nursing strategy objectives are achieved.
