Site Based/Office/Remote: This role is based in Staffordshire; however, the successful candidate will be required to travel to client premises and site works as per project/client/company requirements. This may involve occasional overnight stays (2 to 3 per month).

As a Technical Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in reshaping the landscape of the gas sector while advancing your own professional journey. About the role
Key Result Areas:
1. Manage customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle through application of Orbital standards and processes.
2. Control of Scope, Timescales, and Budget to customer satisfaction and optimizing Orbital's resources.
3. Deliver successful projects through the facilitation of the internal delivery functions ensuring successful and timely delivery through clear requirements definition and internal relationship management.
4. Maximize profitability of the contract and achieve a satisfactory cash flow through regular budget cost control, forecasting, and cost-saving measures.
5. Demonstrate successful and sustainable Customer relationships and satisfaction ratings.
6. Ensure assigned projects are delivered on time, on cost, and on quality in line with the customer and Orbital agreed programme of work, while ensuring we deliver on our corporate social responsibility in all areas.
Key Outputs:
1. Adhere to the current engineering planning process.
2. Ensure that the project requirements are correctly understood, recorded, and signed off by the customer.
3. Forecast, monitor, and control all project costs and prepare internal monthly project status reports and participate in the internal financial processes.
4. Ensure project schedules are met, maintain up-to-date knowledge on project progress, and prepare regular client project progress reports.
5. Monitor the project design and production to ensure cost efficiency and compliance with contract specifications and original cost estimates.
6. Liaise with the Procurement department to ensure that procurement of equipment, materials, and services is carried out in accordance with the project's technical, quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
7. Ensure compliance with company Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental, and standard operating procedures.
8. In conjunction with all relevant stakeholder departments, carry out evaluation of allocated projects, identify problem areas and deviations, and ensure all matters are discussed with the client and clarified to avoid delays, as well as reporting to management where appropriate.
9. Responsible for the change management process of the projects, ensuring all cost implications are managed, ensuring that all potential variations to contract are identified and pursued in a fair and credible manner in the interests of the company and get variations agreed and Purchase Order amendments.
10. Maintain the agreed project cash flow by ensuring that invoices are issued correctly and on time and milestone payments are achieved as per plan.
11. Responsible for the successful closure of the project to include all customer sign-offs, lesson learned analysis, archiving, and financial closure.
12. Engage with all relevant aspects of manufacturing, service, commissioning, site support, product development, and engineering to deliver your assigned projects.
Secondary Duties:
1. Ensure that design services deliver prepared project data books and manuals on schedule and when required, organise the training of customer's personnel.
2. Organise & accompany the customer/representatives to the functional testing of the equipment and ensure that test activities are fully monitored via the nominated representative.
3. Maintain and promote a professional and harmonious relationship within the company and with the customers' representatives.
4. Mentor and train colleagues as required.
5. Taking ownership and managing the technical aspects of one or more projects delivering a variety of products and services offered by Orbital through design, manufacture, test, install, commissioning, and Client sign-off.
6. Leading site works including sub-contractor management, implementation, and commissioning if required for a project.
Essential Skills:
1. Strong Technical Background, preferably in C&I/Process Engineering.
2. At least 5 years' experience in delivering projects.
3. Strong leadership skills and can demonstrate effective customer management.
4. Able to coach and mentor a small team and all involved stakeholders.
5. Effective listening, communication, and analytical skills.
6. Scheduling experience including working knowledge of MS Project or equivalent.
7. Qualified Prince2, APM practitioner or similar.
8. HNC or Degree qualified + significant experience.
Desirable Skills:
1. Knowledge of Grid G17/G35, SGN PS6 and/or GL5 Design Processes.
2. Experience/Knowledge of CDM Requirements.
