As a UI Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset and Wealth Management Equity Portfolio Management Technology Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver technology on our strategic investment platform. As a core technical contributor, you will be a seasoned member of the UI Team, and will be responsible for conducting critical technology solutions alongside a global team, for the Equity Portfolio Management Platform – a flagship product in Asset Management for portfolio construction and portfolio implementation in the Global Equity business.
Job responsibilities
1. Works closely with the Portfolio Manager and the Global Equity Technology Team, to design and implement the next generation of portfolio management features.
2. Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
3. Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
4. Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
5. Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
6. Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
7. Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
8. Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
9. Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
10. Advanced in the following technology stack: React, HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript and CSS
11. Demonstrated experience with data modelling and performance turning
12. Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
13. Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
14. Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
15. In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
16. Experience of working in financial services, in a front-office environment
17. Understanding of cross assess classes, markets and institutional investment process a plus.
18. Very pro-active and delivery focussed within an agile environment
19. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
