An opportunity for an accomplished Business Development Manager to join an established food supplier who provides fresh, quality products to the foodservice industry, including contract caterers, restaurants, gastro pubs, bars, schools, Michelin star restaurants, and 5-star hotels.
Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Business Development Manager will be joining a growing sales team where you will be responsible for developing new business and growing sales across the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Identify and develop significant profitable business with new customers in order to increase sales in line with business targets.
2. Develop new and existing account profitability by skillfully utilizing sales data and reports.
3. Produce comprehensive and insightful profit studies to formulate customer contracts outlining specific terms of agreement.
4. Identify, design, and develop a sales proposition that is aligned to the customer's needs and objectives.
5. Maintain a live prospect database of accounts that have the potential to significantly impact business growth.
6. Mentor and support the internal sales team.
7. Provide accurate and timely information and feedback to management and other business areas to ensure the business can maintain a continued level of service to customers and utilize opportunities for growth.
8. Report on sales performance against budget and report on variances, putting action plans in place if necessary.
9. Facilitate and influence communication and activity at a high level with customers, suppliers, and the team to ensure delivery of profit margins and maximize marketing and telesales call activity.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Relevant sales/business qualifications or significant experience in business development.
2. Proven track record in developing profitable key accounts.
3. Proven track record in winning significant new business.
4. Demonstration of developing customer contracts and implementing terms of agreement.
5. Great communication and relationship-building skills.
6. Account management to a high level of professionalism and effectiveness.
7. Astute commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer needs and profitability.
8. Customer-driven with a collaborative and hands-on approach.
9. Exceptional selling and influencing/negotiation/presentation skills.
10. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the foodservice/hospitality industry.
11. Full clean driving license and ability to work across the region as required for customer base.
On offer is a basic salary of £30 - £33k, uncapped OTE of £12k+, company car or car allowance, company pension scheme, employee discounts, and store discounts.
