Graduate/Trainee Internal Auditor
Salary: £29,225 pa (65% of £44,962) with a supported 3-year training programme for study and work experience with linked annual increases.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Location: Flexible working - with a base in Rotherham, Nottingham, or Coventry office. Please note: We are not taking on sponsorship visas.
We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our Internal Audit team. In this role, you will perform reviews that are crucial to how well an organisation is run and performs, including governance, risk management, financial management, data and information management, and IT. We are an NHS service, hosted by University Hospitals Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, providing audit services to NHS clients in South Yorkshire, the East and West Midlands.
You will work within a team providing internal audit services to a wide spectrum of NHS organisations. The role will see you:
1. Undertake a professional accountancy or internal audit qualification (ACCA or IIA): studying whilst developing in the role of Internal Auditor.
2. Add value to the NHS: researching and assessing clients, providing evidence-based feedback through audit reports and face-to-face presentations.
3. Propose practical solutions to support busy organisations.
4. Work independently and as part of a broader team: working in a team to deliver audits for NHS clients.
Main duties of the job
Candidates will be required to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients and become knowledgeable on a broad range of topic areas including adapting and prioritising as workload requires and will ensure timely delivery of quality audits. The cost of your professional training package is paid for by 360 Assurance (subject to T&C's) and you will be provided with time to study. Upon qualification, you will have opportunities to develop further within our organisation and continue to progress your career.
Upon successful completion of the trainee programme, you will be appointed as an Audit Principal. As you pass exams, you will benefit from being an NHS employee with the option to join the NHS pension scheme, flexible working, and to access NHS staff benefits. Although based at one location, travel across the client base will be expected. You will work from 360 offices, client sites, and home.
Candidates will undertake a multi-stage recruitment process that will include, as a minimum, an interview, skills assessment, and presentation. You will need to be a car driver to enable travel between NHS sites and other locations across the East and West Midlands, and South Yorkshire (use of public transport is unlikely to be practical for this post).

Person Specification
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
* Basic understanding of the NHS Structure and NHS Objectives.
* Commitment to Equality & Valuing Diversity Principles.
* GCSE Qualification (or equivalent) must include English language/literature and Maths at Grade C or above.
* Experience of working in an office environment.
* Ability to work in a team and be a good team player.
* Experience of presenting findings from own work in a formal environment with little or no supervision.
* Experience of having conducted and/or facilitated meetings to obtain and/or present information, including the need to use conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
* To be a fast learner who can pick things up quickly and work in a rapidly changing environment and have a confident approach.
* Ability to manage and deliver multiple tasks, including own workload and that of staff managed, within tight timescales and to set deadlines within a constantly changed and pressured environment.
* Able to demonstrate customer-focused professional approach, and display professionalism at all times.
* Demonstrate an ability to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with clients and colleagues, including negotiation skills when required.
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills, and the ability to use Excel to analyse data, interpret and evaluate information (e.g. using graphs, pivot tables, formula).
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. This must include the ability to write effective reports.
* To be self-motivated and can motivate and encourage others. Can recognise the strength in themselves and others in taking forward initiatives and building strong team working and a supportive culture.

* Understanding of the service users of the Trust (which could include lived experience of conditions the Trust deals with or of receiving services relevant to those the Trust provides).
* Qualified in relevant CCAB/IIA professional qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience to support in-depth experience in the Internal Audit field - either the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) or a CCAB accountancy qualification, e.g., ACCA.
