Systems Developer – to £50k plus strong benefits package – 12-month FTC

What will you be doing?
The role is based in the Woolpit Head Office, and you will be expected to be on-site for two days a week. The other three days can be from home unless you prefer to work in the office full-time.
The successful candidate will be working directly with stakeholders through full lifecycle to create excellent software solutions in utilities supply and billing using .NET VB & C#,
ASP.NET MVC, Razor, React, RESTful APIs on a SQL Server backend. You will be influential in contributing to the effectiveness of the team together with the discipline to work within structure methods OOP and Scrum.
Software Development
Providing software solutions to business need whilst collaborating with users and change owners to provide the best possible outcome.
Software Support
Providing support & maintenance of systems in coordination with the chosen ITSM framework, to ensure the effects of incidents are minimised and requests are served to expectation.
Software Development Lifecycle
Operating throughout the SDLC including gathering requirements on smaller change, designing and developing software solutions to standards, performing testing (such as peer, automated, unit), deploy/release and subsequent support and maintenance all whilst working to standards/policies/guidelines as appropriate.
Customer Focus
Provide exceptional customer service and ensuring customer effort is minimised.
Service Management
Working in alignment with the principles of ITIL Service Management through day-to-day application of applicable ITIL practice such as Incident, Problem, Service Request, and Change Management in a structured and scalable way.
Documentation
Providing excellent, self-serving documentation towards the resilient operations of the team ensuring scale and quality of instruction is considered.
What skills and experience do you need for the role?
This is a role where developers will work directly with stake-holders, therefore, your communication skills and standards are just as important as your technical skills.
* Degree qualified in IT or a strong history software development
* A strong working knowledge of ITSM and ITIL processes would be beneficial
* Proven track record in full software development lifecycle for enterprise level software solutions including gathering requirements on smaller change, designing and developing software solutions to standards, performing testing (such as peer, automated, unit), deploy/release and subsequent support and maintenance all whilst working to standards/policies/guidelines as appropriate.
Up-to-date knowledge of agile software development best practices, and development in the Microsoft technology stack
* Server-Side – OO Dev using C#.Net, ASP.Net MVC and Razor – some historical VB.net would be handy.
* Backend – Experience of querying and managing SQL Server databases.
* Frontend – REACT, jQuery or JavaScript other frameworks and CSS/Bootstrap. Understanding of responsive design, JSON, CSS pre-processors, package managers.
* APIs – Experience of RESTful APIs
* Dev / Version control – experience of source control for teams with multiple developers, e.g git
* Security – An understanding of security threats such as SQL injection, Form spoofing, CSRF and XSS, and how to deal with them.
* A solid working knowledge of Development methodologies including Agile, Kanban, SCRUM or Waterfall.
* High degree of tenacity in solving problems in a logical and professional manner.
