Field Service Engineer Our busy Customer Services department is looking to employ a Machine Tool Service Engineer to join our specialised team of engineers responsible for ensuring our customers’ machines are expertly serviced and maintained. Job Purpose: As a key member of the service team, you will support our customers by providing technical expertise covering service work, planned maintenance, machine upgrades and responding to breakdowns. When not visiting customers, you will be site-based at our Rochdale facility. We try and operate a balanced outworking schedule with a mix of international travel and periods at the Rochdale manufacturing facility. Responsibilities: While the specific service needs of each customer may vary, your typical responsibilities will involve international travel to our customers’ premises to perform service work on either CNC milling or grinding machines. Such work will include replacing gears, bearings, ball screws, cutter and grinding spindles as well as hydraulic and pneumatic installations. In addition to providing service, you will also establish and reinforce good customer relationships, and promote our technical services and spare parts to support the growth of our business. The customer service we provide is solely for machines designed and built by us and therefore we have a good understanding of the service requirements, and as we manufacture our machines on site at Milnrow, you will receive full training before visiting customers. Person specification: We are looking for a service engineer with a positive ‘can do’ attitude with the following skills and experience: Time served or apprentice trained mechanical / maintenance engineer: electrical knowledge would be advantageous, Experienced in machine tool servicing, maintenance, and upgrades, Excellent diagnostic skills and ability to deliver practical engineering solutions, Good familiarity and knowledge of multi-axis, metal cutting machinery, Strong customer relations skills and ability to effectively communicate on technical matters both verbally and in writing, Experienced with Microsoft suite of programmes, Willingness to travel abroad frequently, Knowledge of electrics and CNC controls would be advantageous.
