Job summary
As a key member of the Care Group leadership team, the Directorate Head of Clinical Services will contribute to the development and implementation of the vision and strategic priorities to deliver efficient services and effective patient care at Directorate level.
The Directorate Head of Clinical Services will have specific responsibilities and accountabilities across their Directorate for delivery of clinical and operational leadership. They will hold particular responsibility for designing, supporting and communicating a clinical vision for their Directorate and delivery of effective Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement strategies, in concert with Care Group teams.
Main duties of the job
* Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the vision and strategic priorities for efficient services and effective patient care at the Directorate level.
* Clinical & Operational Leadership: Responsible for delivering clinical and operational leadership within the Directorate.
* Clinical Vision & Governance: Design, support, and communicate a clinical vision while ensuring effective Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement strategies.
* Business Planning & Standards: Play a key role in business planning, professional standards, training, and research.
* Performance & Care Quality: Ensure the Directorate meets performance targets and care quality expectations.
* Autonomous Working: Operate independently to maintain high-quality service for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
* Cross-Professional Collaboration: Work with all professions across NUH to identify and implement improvements in productivity, efficiency, and clinical quality.
* Clinical Workforce Leadership: Lead the clinical workforce and manage designated clinical leaders within the Care Group.
* Accountability & Standards: Ensure high professional and patient care standards within the Directorate, Care Group, NUH, and broader Nottinghamshire health and social care system.

* Evidence of continuous professional development including evidence of leadership development activities
Experience
Essential
* Experience at Senior Clinical level for example Consultant, Specialist Doctor, Chief/Director of Profession or equivalent leadership experience
* Previous experience in leading a service, project or multidisciplinary team
Communication and Relationship Skills
Essential
* Well-developed leadership skills, inspiring others to collaborate, with clear abilities to form effective working relationships
* Excellent communicator, facilitating discussion and involvement. Evidence of effective chairing of meetings.
Analytical and Judgement Skills

* Ability to prioritise a range of complex and potentially competing demands such as clinical issues, politically sensitive matters or those of with strategic importance to the Trust
* Able to analyse situations and facilitate creative solutions using a team approach
