Purpose of the role To provide strategic direction, leadership and day-to-day management of the Flooring Sales Team and activities to reach the Company’s sales & profit targets. Key responsibilities Provide leadership and day-to-day management of Area Sales Managers Cultivate lasting relationships with customers to grow customer loyalty Manage key national accounts and major flooring contractors Develop and promote weekly, monthly and quarterly sales objectives – increase sales in line with the business strategy Collaborate with other senior managers and leaders within Sales, Training, Technical and Marketing communities to align solutions and co-ordinate efforts Draft detailed and accurate sales reports Work with customers to better understand their business needs and goals Estimate sales volume and profit for current and new products Establish sales training programs to train and develop people Promote best practice and excellence within the Flooring Sales Team People Management responsibilities : Area Sales Manager Team Regularly review the activity and performance of each Flooring Sales Manager, advise on strength and weakness and give guidance and assistance on ways to improve Set individual targets and objectives for each Flooring Sales Manager Monitor expense/costs of each Area Sales Manager, in line with sales and performance and manage accordingly Review coverage of products and services in each area and ensure that our products and services are being promoted in all sectors Maintain regular contact with each Flooring Sales Manager Communication Establish a good system of communication with the business leaders and managers and the office Ensure CRM is utilised effectively across the team through monitoring and coaching accordingly Report key information from the Flooring Sales Community to the business Report all key market intelligence to management information as necessary to Flooring Sales Managers Consult with HR and management on potential disciplinary matters or people issues and agree appropriate actions Recommend improvements in the organisation structure you feel will be required to achieve the Company's objective and or improved sales performance Take responsibility for initial staff recruitment and selection of the flooring team in accordance with the Company recruitment process Sales Strategy Provide strategic insight and input into development of the company sales plan and strategy Draw up detailed plans for implementation of company plans and objectives Draft and assist management on future sales forecasts as requested for budgeting purposes Marketing Work in conjunction with the Marketing Management, Flooring Sales Managers and your own proposals/comments on: Distributor Strategy Sales Aids Promotional Programme Competitor Activity PR Activity Advertising Involvement with professional bodies Encourage suggestions on all aspects of Marketing Requirements: Skills, Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration or equivalent Relevant Business Development & Sales experience In-depth knowledge of sales and marketing techniques and best practices Proven people management skills and experience Capacity to manage various projects and work to tight deadlines Excellent negotiation and leadership skills Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Product and market knowledge will be an advantage
