Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a staff nurse to join our respiratory medical ward based at UHND. We are a 41 bedded ward who care for patients with a range of respiratory conditions. We are a very strong, efficient team that take pride in the high standard of care we deliver. We use treatments like non invasive ventilation, BIPAP and CPAP, and also use high flow nasal oxygen. These patients are level 2 care and any new starters, within time will become respiratory trained to care for these patients.We currently have 8 high dependency respiratory beds that are used for those patient with greater need for respiratory support, i.e. high flow nasal oxygen, non-invasive ventilation If you are passionate about high standards of care, are interested in respiratory medicine and like to make a difference to patients and their families, apply now. Main duties of the job The post holder will be reposonsible for delivering a high standard of care to patients and their loved ones. They will oragnise and plan care, depending upon the patients needs ensuring all care needs are met. They will be accountable for their care and supported by colleagues. Within time, the post holder will be respiratory trained which will mean they can deliver treatements like BIPAP and CPAP, they will increase their knowledge base around blood gases and be able to interpret them, responding to them appropriately. The post holder will be supported to develop their continuing professional development by attending appropriate training and encouraged to increase their knowledge base. In line with the NMC revalidation, the post holder will be supported in order to attain all the criteria to revalidate. We care for a variety of patients with both acute & long term respiratory conditions including: COPD,Cystic Fibrosis,Type 1 & Type 2 Respiratory Failure,Pulmonary Fibrosis,Pneumothorax ,Bronchiectasis,Lung Cancer,Pleural Effusions,Asthma.
