We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our Governance team. This role can be based in our Cheltenham, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool or Bristol offices working on a hybrid basis.
Responsibilities:
1. Drafting, negotiation and reviewing of commercial contracts, tenders, engagement letters, NDA’s, licences amongst others
2. Supporting firmwide legal issues
3. Responsible for recommending firmwide precedents
4. Maintaining internal legal documents, including members agreement, terms of business and schedules and confidentiality agreements
5. Assisting with interpretation and understanding of legislation, regulation and external legal advice
6. Act as a first point of contact for external legal contacts and legal specialists
7. Assisting with matters relating to Property acquisition, Member agreement, Client agreement, Supplier agreement, Tax structure
8. Training and education in terms of legal matters as required across the firm
9. Support, implement and maintain Information Security procedures and activities in accordance to Barnett Waddingham’s Information Security Policy
Experience/Qualifications:
1. A qualified lawyer with experience gained in-house or in private practice.
2. Experience in dealing with contract law including drafting and negotiating commercial agreements directly.
3. Knowledge of intellectual property, information security and data protection including GDPR experience is advantageous
4. Financial services, FCA regulation and pensions experience preferred but not essential.
