Housing Solutions Triage Officer
Location: Romford - 2 Days Office
Job Role
To provide a high quality first point of contact and triage service (face-to-face, on the telephone and by e-mail) for people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness and have dependent children or are pregnant or vulnerable.
Responsibilities include:
1. Responding to and assessing all referrals received under the 'Duty to Refer' arrangements, making initial enquiries and triaging as appropriate.
2. Carrying out a rapid initial assessment of each customer's needs and circumstances to establish eligibility for assistance under homelessness legislation, including making s184 decisions (e.g., not homeless decisions, ineligible decisions).
3. Preventing or delaying homelessness through targeted early interventions (including advocacy, negotiation, and mediation) and providing comprehensive advice and information about housing rights and options.
4. Maintaining accurate, detailed records of all interviews, telephone calls, and follow-up actions to assist monitoring, decision-making, and effective case management.
5. Creating a new case on the Jigsaw system for every rapid initial assessment completed and ensuring ongoing updates until the case is reassigned to another Officer.
6. Ensuring all data entry and case recording is accurate, complete, and undertaken within agreed timescales to assist performance monitoring and completion of internal and external returns, including the government's quarterly HCLIC return.
