What You Will be Doing!
As a Trading Analyst you’d be part ofthe Trading and Optimisation team, working as a key member of the team tosupport and direct the traders towards value, enabling them to make quick andinformed decisions.
You’d be responsible for fundamentalanalysis, with a key focus on power trading decisions. We’ve a generationportfolio including run-of-river hydro, pump storage hydro and Biomass.Analytical knowledge in these new areas would make you invaluable to the team.
The desk is small in relative terms,but this means you’ll have more ownership and visibility with management andhave greater interaction across the business. Specifically, you’d provide robustfundamental analysis, engage in trading strategies, develop and maintainmodels, review past analysis, own pricing tools and trading-decision modelssuch as marginal costs models, option pricing and simulation models. You’dprovide market and competitor intelligence and be spotting areas to add value.
About you
You’ll need to have a degree leveleducation in a subject along the lines of science, maths, economics,engineering or other numerate subject, as well as working knowledge of UK powermarkets. Experience and understanding of power generation units will set you upto settle in quickly, as will a curious mindset.
You’ll have solid experience withstatistical and fundamental modelling using IT techniques such a; SQL, Python,Excel, Business Intelligence tools (Power BI); and be able to apply a pragmaticapproach to large data structures.
If you have a good understanding of themethods underlying linear and mixed integer programming with experience ofbuilding models and solving them with commercial optimisers (Xpress/CPLEX),you’ll be set up for quick success in the role.
