Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Anatomical Pathology Technician in Mortuary (Band 4)/ Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technician (Band 4, Annex 21). This post will be based at University Hospital Crosshouse hospital but post holder will be required to cover services at University Hospital Ayr.
What you will do:
The department provides a full Mortuary and Autopsy service to Crosshouse & Ayr hospitals, the community and Procurator Fiscal. We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Mortuary service. You should be able to demonstrate good attention to detail, have experience in autopsy techniques and be able to demonstrate a high standard of reconstruction techniques. You should be organised, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Particular emphasis on experience and the ability to deploy these skills in highly emotional circumstances, and display empathy, professionalism and sensitivity.
You will provide support and assistance to Consultants who perform autopsies and work closely with Funeral directors, hospital Doctors, nurses, porters, Ayrshire councils and Pathology Laboratory staff. You should have previous experience of audit participation and experience or knowledge of UKAS accreditation.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
The post holder will need to meet the essential requirements in the personal specification for this post. A trainee will be considered who meets criteria outlined in the Trainee APT job specification and assimilated to a Band 4 scale on completion of Level 3 diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology.
Hours:
37 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 08:30 am – 4:30 pm and Friday 08:30 am – 4:00 pm.
Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
A car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
