Senior Civil Engineer Bristol £50k-£55k plus benefits Our client is looking for a highly motivated and skilled professional to take on a client-facing role that involves delivering a diverse range of projects, including residential, education, healthcare, heritage, and university-related works. You will manage projects with various procurement methods, including traditional and design-and-build contracts. Your role will also include resource allocation, ensuring projects meet deadlines, and supporting the development and mentoring of team members. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and management of construction projects, from small-scale to large-scale, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and sustainably. Assess site conditions, conduct due diligence, and contribute to the preliminary layout and final engineering design. Review and analyse drawings, plans, specifications, and project documentation to ensure alignment with project goals. Define project budgets, timelines, and scope of work, while managing resource deployment to meet targets. Oversee the delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on schedule. Supervise and provide guidance to engineering teams, as well as other skilled personnel, to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. Take charge of onsite construction teams, ensuring smooth and efficient project execution. Work collaboratively with architects, construction teams, developers, and consultants to ensure project success. Ensure compliance with civil engineering best practices, standards, and procedures. Adhere to UK design standards and obtain necessary approvals from relevant authorities. Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety (H&S) and Construction Design Management (CDM) regulations. About you: A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Chartered or working towards Proficiency in relevant software tools, including CAD, PDS or Civil3D, Microdrainage, and FLOW. Experience with Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) processes. Competence in designing highways under S278/S38 agreements. Knowledge of both private and adoptable drainage design. Experience in earthworks and external level design, including 3D analysis. A solid understanding of the planning, specification, design, procurement, and commissioning phases of construction projects. Familiarity with current legislation and industry standards, and a commitment to following QA and H&S procedures. Proven experience in managing and mentoring teams of engineers. Ability to make informed decisions and prioritize tasks, balancing conflicting internal and external demands. Skills & Attributes: Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of project budgeting and cost management. Capable of managing entire projects from start to finish, ensuring successful outcomes. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including email correspondence. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and team members. Meticulous attention to detail, with a methodical approach to work. Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines. Flexible, with a proactive attitude to meet project demands.
