Why Greencore?
We're a leading manufacturer of convenience food in the UK and our purpose is to make everyday taste better. We're a vibrant, fast-paced leading food manufacturer, employing around 13,600 colleagues across 16 manufacturing units and 17 distribution depots across the UK. We supply all the UK's food retailers with everything from sandwiches, soups, and sushi to cooking sauces, pickles, and ready meals. In FY23, we generated revenues of £1.9bn.
Our vast direct-to-store (DTS) distribution network, comprising 17 depots nationwide, enables us to make over 10,400 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce and that of third parties.
Why we embarked on Making Business Easier?
Over time, processes have become increasingly complex, increasing both the risk and cost they pose, whilst restricting our agility. At the same time, our customers and the market expect more from us than ever before. Making Business Easier forms a fundamental foundation for our commercial and operational excellence agendas, whilst supporting managing our cost base effectively in the future. The MBE Programme will streamline and simplify core processes, provide easier access to quality business data, and invest in the right technology to enable these processes.
Why is this exciting for your career as a Data Modeller?
The MBE Programme presents a huge opportunity for colleagues across the technology function to play a central role in the design, shape, delivery, and execution of an enterprise-wide digital transformation programme. The complexity of the initiative, within a FTSE 250 business, will allow for large-scale problem solving, group-wide impact assessment, and supporting the delivery of an enablement project to future-proof the business.
What you'll be doing as a Data Modeller at Greencore:
1. Develop and maintain an understanding of data across key business areas, systems, processes, and business relationships.
2. Analyse data sources and lineages to refine the design for a new Data Platform.
3. Assist with Proof of concepts to refine design patterns and collaborate with design review boards.
4. Create high-quality & comprehensive project documentation; maintaining data dictionaries, source to target mappings, and data requirements documentation.
5. Work closely with Data Architects and Business SMEs to mature a corporate data model, communicating technical detail to technical and non-technical audiences, providing support to development teams on Modelling best practices.
6. Collaborate with the Data Architects to ensure the opportunities and impacts of new features are fully exploited and understood.
7. Assist our Data Governance initiatives, systemising Data Lineage and Data Quality Rules and refining data capture.
What we're looking for:
We are looking for previous work experience in large-scale Data Warehousing projects in corporate environments, ideally from manufacturing industries. This will include:
1. Experience with GC Confirm software (Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps, ADSL2B, Synapse, PowerBI & DataBricks).
2. Experience with Data Modelling Tools.
3. Strong proficiency in SQL, PySpark, and Database Design.
What you'll get in return:
Competitive salary and job-related benefits, holidays, car allowance, annual target bonus, pension up to 8% matched, life insurance up to 4x salary, PMI cover, company share save scheme, Greencore qualifications, exclusive Greencore employee discount platform, and access to a full Wellbeing Centre platform. Throughout your time at Greencore, you will be supported with on-the-job training and development opportunities to further your career.
